Linda Sumbo

Linda is a dedicated nonprofit professional currently pursuing a Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. She also holds a Post-Graduate Certificate in Project Management from Fanshawe College in London, Ontario, Canada, and a Bachelor's Degree in Development Studies from the University for Development Studies in Ghana.

Through her academic journey, Linda has advanced her expertise in grantmaking, fundraising, and strategic leadership to drive sustainable social impact. In recognition of her leadership in the nonprofit sector, Carleton University awarded her the prestigious 2024 Black Emerging Fundraising Professionals Scholarship, established by the Black Canadian Fundraisers’ Collective to advance Black leadership within the philanthropic and nonprofit space.

Linda is currently serving as a Donor Engagement Steward at The Circle of Turtle Lodge, a Canadian Indigenous charitable organization. In this role, she manages donor campaigns, builds strategic relationships, and strengthens the organization’s visibility to enhance fundraising outcomes. Her commitment to social justice is also reflected in her volunteer work with immigration service organizations, where she has supported programs that help newcomers integrate into Canadian society.

Before immigrating to Canada, Linda amassed over six years of experience in international development and humanitarian aid with World Vision International, Ghana. As a Project Coordinator, she spearheaded community health, water, sanitation, and hygiene initiatives in rural villages across northern Ghana, focusing on improving nutrition and well-being for women and children.

Linda’s professional and lived experiences uniquely position her to make a meaningful impact in Canada’s nonprofit sector. She is passionate about transforming traditional donor-recipient dynamics by fostering equitable partnerships rooted in shared goals, Indigenous knowledge systems, and local expertise.
